An audience will happily believe that a bare wooden platform is a blasted heath one minute and the castle of Dunsinane the next; designers soon discover that they need only a few strips of green silk to suggest the forest of Arden. In my experience, audiences enjoy being made to take that imaginative leap; at the end of the performance, the audience are applauding themselves as well as the actors for they, too, have been involved in creating the act of theatre.

An interesting way to look at it. Valid, yet somewhat discounts the skill of the designer in creating this kind of illusion. Since Nick Ormero is a production designer himself, I would be interested to see on what level his designs look to ‘meet’ his audience.
